The beginning of the school year is fast approaching and I wanted to share some important information with everyone…
Before School starts:
Our One-Stop-Shop will not be taking place this year
New Student Orientation (Freshmen and Transfers) will be held on Monday, August 14th from 9am-1pm. Specific information will be sent.
PE shirts will be handed out during Orientation
Students should download the PowerSchool app in order to receive their schedule and locker assignments.
23-24 Schedules will go live on PowerSchool on Monday, August 14th. Please refer to PowerSchool for your schedule.
School Counselors Alpha Split - Counselors have new Alpha Splits this school year. They are as follows:
Mrs. Elgersma: A-Go
Mrs. Easley: Gr-Pe
Ms. Bondiman - Ph-Z
Senior Pictures are taking place and you should’ve received instructions as to how to schedule a date and time, if you’ve not received this information please contact our Main Office.
Parking permits can be picked up prior to the start of the school year; In order to obtain a parking pass students will need to bring in their Driver’s License, Insurance and the Make, model and year of the vehicles they’ll be driving to school.
Issues logging into/resetting passwords for PowerSchool can be addressed by contacting the Main Office.
Please review all expectations in the Student Handbook before the start of school (Dress Code, Phone Policy, Tardies/Attendance, Bullying, Social Media, Vape Pens, Fighting, Outside Food/Deliveries, etc.)
Registration - If you have not registered your child(ren) by 10:00 AM Friday, August 11th their schedule will be dropped and this could affect all courses your child(ren) selected during the course selection process (AP, Honors, IVVC, Driver’s Ed, Etc.)
Start of the School Year:
First day of school is Thursday, August 17th @ 8:20am, Doors to the school will be open at 7:55am. Students who ride the bus should enter through Door #25 and walkers or those students who drive enter through Door #3.
Parents please make sure student Chromebooks are fully charged and ready to go for the first day of school. Students should have their chargers with them during the school day.
First day of IVVC will begin on Monday, August 21st, If you are placed into an AM IVVC class the bus leaves at 7:45am. AM IVVC students should arrive by 7:30am and enter the school through Door 1.
Schedule changes will only be considered during the first 5 days of school…..request to meet with your counselor to discuss the possibility of a change - use QR code to schedule your appointment. Please review the handbook for reasons a schedule change request will be considered.
Yearbook/ID photos will be taken on August 23rd and 24th during PE class. Students will be required to show their ID in order to enter any after school activity. Lost ID can be purchased for $3
Open house will be held on Wednesday, August 30th 6-8:30pm
Parking procedures - Drop off in the morning should take place by the main gym in the Horseshoe “U”. Please pull up far enough to allow several cars to drop students at the same time. Pick up procedures - enter the PHS grounds on the West side of the football stadium and work your way around to pick up your child(ren) (Please review this map).
Communication: I would ask for your cooperation in making sure we have your current contact information in PowerSchool in the event a staff member needs to contact you or your emergency contact. I will be sending out several communications throughout the year with important upcoming information and I’d like to ensure you’ll receive it without delay.

Comienzo del Año Escolar:
El primer día de clases es el Jueves 17 de Agosto a las 8:20am, Las puertas de la escuela estarán abiertas a las 7:55am. Los estudiantes que viajan en el autobús deben entrar por la puerta # 25 y los caminantes o los estudiantes que conducen entrar por la puerta # 3.
Padres, por favor asegúrense de que los Chromebooks de los estudiantes estén completamente cargados y listos para el primer día de clases. Los estudiantes deben tener sus cargadores con ellos durante el día escolar.
El primer día de IVVC comenzará el lunes, 21 de agosto, Si usted es colocado en una clase de IVVC AM el autobús sale a las 7:45am. Los estudiantes de IVVC AM deben llegar a las 7:30 am y entrar a la escuela por la puerta 1.
Los cambios de horario sólo se considerarán durante los primeros 5 días de escuela..... solicite reunirse con su consejero para discutir la posibilidad de un cambio - utilice el código QR para programar su cita. Por favor revise el manual para ver las razones por las cuales un cambio de horario será considerado.
Las fotos para el anuario/identificación serán tomadas el 23 y 24 de agosto durante la clase de educación física. Se requerirá que los estudiantes muestren su identificación para poder entrar a cualquier actividad después de clases. Identificación pérdida se puede comprar por $3
La casa abierta será el Miércoles, 30 de agosto 6-8:30pm
Procedimientos de estacionamiento - Dejar a los alumnos por la mañana debe tener lugar en el gimnasio principal en la herradura "U". Por favor estacione lo suficientemente lejos para permitir que varios carros dejen a los estudiantes al mismo tiempo. Procedimientos para recoger a los estudiantes - entre a los terrenos de PHS por el lado oeste del estadio de fútbol y dé la vuelta para recoger a su(s) hijo(s) (Por favor revise el mapa abajo).
Comunicación: Le pido su cooperación para asegurarse de que tenemos su información de contacto actual en PowerSchool en el caso de que un miembro del personal necesite ponerse en contacto con usted o su contacto de emergencia.
