Forward Together

Dear Plano CUSD #88 Staff and Community,

I am so honored to accept the role of Superintendent of Plano Community Unit School District #88, and I am eager to embark on this journey with each of you. I am humbled by the trust the Board of Education has placed in me to move our district forward together and truthfully, I feel so blessed and lucky!

As we stand at the threshold of a new chapter in our district's history, I am fully committed to fostering an environment where our students can thrive, our families are welcomed and valued partners in their student’s education, and our staff feels supported. As a long-time resident and proud parent of two Plano High School graduates, my heart and soul stand united in pursuing excellence for our school community.

The recent transitions in our leadership, including the onboarding of new district and building-level administrators, signal a period of renewal and fresh perspectives that I am confident will strengthen our community and enhance our educational practices. Together, we have a unique opportunity to build on the solid foundations in place while introducing strategies that reflect our shared values and aspirations.

I am mindful that change comes with uncertainty and will, therefore, approach my role with a deep sense of responsibility and dedication. I also know that our Plano family is diligent, strong, and committed and because of that, together, we will navigate this period of transition with the best interests of our students and each other at heart.

In the coming months, I look forward to gaining insights and feedback from all stakeholders. Together, we will address immediate priorities and lay out a long-term plan that promotes improved student academic achievement, continuous growth, and a culture of collaboration and partnership that nurtures the well-being of every student and our staff. On June 10th and 11th, our leadership team including district leaders and all building level administrators will meet to prepare for the 2024-25 school year. I intend to notify the staff of our progress following that meeting and I will work to communicate throughout the summer.

I look forward to working together to strengthen our schools and community and I hope each of you have a restful and FUN summer filled with blessings!

Forward Together,

Dr. Tracy Thurwanger
