This afternoon, Governor Pritzker announced that all Illinois schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. The Governor determined that opening schools in the near future would jeopardize the health of those working and learning in the schools.
The Plano School District Board of Education and administration realize that government officials did not reach this decision lightly. This is very sad news for our school community, but it is in the best interests of our students and staff. That being said, the district remains dedicated to continuing remote learning opportunities for our students for the remainder of the school year, which is Friday, May 22nd.
Please watch your email and the district website for remote learning opportunities and announcements about times/days and locations that students’ personal belongings and school supplies from their lockers and desks will be safely distributed to families.
Plano Schools will continue to serve free breakfast and lunch, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 11:30-12:30 at Plano Middle and Emily G Johns Schools to ALL STUDENTS 18 and under. The Fox Valley YMCA serves drive-thru dinners at their main branch location (Eldamain and 34) Monday thru Friday from 3pm-4pm.

Esta tarde, el gobernador Pritzker anunció que todas las escuelas de Illinois permanecerán cerradas por el resto del año escolar. El Gobernador determinó que abrir escuelas en el futuro cercano pondría en peligro la salud de quienes trabajan y aprenden en las escuelas.
La Junta de Educación y la Administración se dan cuenta de que los funcionarios del gobierno no tomaron esta decisión a la ligera. Esta es una noticia muy triste para nuestra comunidad escolar, pero es lo mejor para nuestros estudiantes y personal. Dicho esto, el distrito sigue dedicado a continuar las oportunidades de aprendizaje remoto para nuestros estudiantes durante el resto del año escolar, que es el viernes 22 de mayo.
