Humberto "Bert" Aca
Head Custodian, Emily G. Johns

Described as a “resourceful problem-solver” who is always “willing to help out in any way”, Humberto goes above and beyond his job description on a daily basis. Being bilingual, he has “willingly used his communication skills to interpret for parents and students when other bilingual employees are not available.”
Susan Webb
Band/Choir Teacher, Plano High School

Credited with drawing “some of the biggest crowds to non-athletic related events at the high school,” Susan has taken the initiative to “greatly” increase student interest in music. She “has entered the students in competitions” that resulted in a state level performance for both volleyball and basketball.
Nicole Walters
English Teacher, Plano High School

As a current member of the Future Educators of America (FEA), Nicole has not only “increased participation and interest in the FEA, she has also earned recognition and awards for the club’s banner, brochure and more.” Furthermore, Aurora University has “given high praise to Nicole for the great strides and improvements she has made with this club (FEA) during the course of this school year.”

Principal, Plano Middle School

Since his hire date in 2001, Wayne has created a school culture characterized by his words, “we are here to help you.” He knows the importance of building strong relationships and has strived to establish positive communication between students, teachers, and parents. His strong communication skills are only strengthened by his community involvement.
Building Literacy Team
Building Literacy Team Emily G. Johns School

Formed per “teacher request” in May 2012, the Building Literacy Team at Emily G. Johns stays informed of “current trends and best practices in literacy” and often challenges current practices. Composed of administrators, specialists, support personnel, and teachers representing grades four, five, and six, they “identify and implement literacy strategies based on best practices in teaching.”
Tim Campbell
President, Board of Education

Tim Campbell has been an “integral part of our school community for years.” As a parent and volunteer, Tim is described as having a “laser-like focus on helping our students at every level.” Prior to joining the Board, Tim was active in the community in his role with the Plano Youth Tackle Football League, as well as a booster for the High School football team. Oftentimes, Tim will be organizing food sales or volunteering his time fundraising for athletic programs.
Linda Morel
Speech Pathologist, P.H. Miller School and Centennial School

For over twenty years, Linda has served as a speech pathologist in the Plano Community Unit School District. Her “expertise and knowledge” is “critical” and unmatched in the school improvement process and is only mirrored by her own passion for student growth and excellence.

The Plano School District hosted its first annual “Salute to Service” awards ceremony on May 20th. The ceremony honored Plano Premier Award recipients, retirees and service award achievements.
