Bus Transportation

For a student to be eligible for bus transportation, they must live at least 1.5 miles from their school. Eligible bus students will be picked up and dropped off at designated bus stops. Students in grades K-8 who live within 1.5 miles from their school, but who must walk across Route 34 to get to their school, qualify for bus service. Questions, call the Transportation Office at 630-552-8980.

Special Pick-up and Drop-Off Bus Request

One time special pick-up and drop-off request for students must by made through the online registration - PowerSchool.

Requests for permanent changes, such as accommodating a babysitter, will be considered on an individual basis using the following criteria:

  • The student requesting special consideration must be an eligible bus student (based on home address).

  • The student must ride the same bus route in the morning and afternoon.

  • The requested pick-up or drop-off location must be on an existing route.

  • If the request involves a change in bus assignment, it must be for the entire year and must be the same for every day of the week.

  • Request will be granted as space on the bus allows.

Pre-Kindergarten and Early Childhood students may request a different location for their pick-up and drop-off. In order to grant a request, it may be necessary to change the session (morning or afternoon) a child attends.

Please allow 48 hours for processing permanent route changes.

SAFETY RULES FOR SCHOOL BUS RIDERS

The following rules are for all school bus riders. It is recommended that all parents/guardians read through these rules with their students so they are familiar with the all the rules. These rules are in place for both the safety of the students, as well as the bus drivers. As part of the safety procedure, all buses record both video and audio. Thank you for helping to keep our buses safe.

  1. Please be at your designated bus stop 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. This allows the bus to stay on schedule and not arrive to the school late.

  2. While waiting for the bus to arrive, please stand at least 5 feet back away from the road. Students should always cross the road in front of the bus. Never cross the road behind the bus. The driver cannot see them.

  3. Do not approach the bus until it comes to a complete stop. Students should stay a safe distance from a moving bus. Students should never attempt to touch a moving bus

  4. Remain in the bus in an event of an emergency. Always listen to the driver for instructions.

  5. Do not leave your seat while the bus is moving. All students must remain seated at all times while on the bus. Please get off and on the bus without pushing or shoving.

  6. Keep hands and head inside the bus at all times.

  7. No eating or drinking is allowed on the bus.

  8. No throwing of anything on the bus.

  10. Students should not damage the school bus inside or out. Parents/guardians will be charged for the repairs of any excessive damage. Treat the bus as you would the furniture in your home.

  11. Students must refrain from loud talking and yelling while on the bus. This can be distracting for the driver and my lead to an accident. Students are encouraged to speak in the volume as they would at school.

  12. Students should never use profanity while on the bus.

  13. Students must be absolutely quiet when approaching a railroad crossing. This allows the bus driver to hear if a train is coming.

  14. Keep backpacks, books, coats, and all other objects out of the aisle.

  15. Students should be courteous to all other students and the driver. Students are to always keep their hands to themselves.

  16. Students are not allowed to get off at any other bus stop without a bus pass that has been approved by the Transportation Department. Parents/guardians must request the pass by 12 p.m. for the change to take effect.

  17. Students are not allowed to take any pictures or video of anyone or anything on or off the bus. If cell phone use causes a distraction to the driver, that student will be asked to put the cell phone away for the duration of the bus ride.

  18. All buses do have a seating chart. Students are expected to stay in their assigned seat.
